DistributionScattered across the state, but most often in the Mountains. The Dare County collections are from Wanchese on Roanoke Island and at Kitty Hawk on the Outer Banks. The Anson record is a photo on iNat website by Becky Dill.

Native of Eurasia and North Africa; in N.A. mostly in the Southeastern states.
AbundanceRare to uncommon in the Mountains and Piedmont, rare on the Coastal Plain.
HabitatRoadsides, former homesites, fields, meadows, granite outcrop, weed at farm, waste ground.
PhenologyFlowering and fruiting May-July.
IdentificationWild or Cultivated Leek is robust, mostly 2-4 feet tall from a large bulb. The leaves are rather flat and broad. The inflorescence is a large round umbel 2-3 inches across of lavender to light purple flowers.
